Attendees: 37

 

President  Bob Perigard was unable to attend meeting. Interim Vice-President Dave Muccino ran meeting.

Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jan Perigard followed by a moment of silence.

 

Guest Speaker was Tom Fitzgerald  from the Waterbury Fire Marshalls office. October is fire safety month. Smoke detectors in all living spaces. Clean chimney’s, pellet stoves and furnaces once a year. CO detector is most important if you have gas or oil heat. CO is colorless and odorless. Detectors should be placed on ceiling or high on a wall. Extension cords are for temporary use only. Fresh trees at Christmas are very dangerous. Water constantly.

 

Secretary Report: Nothing this month

 

Treasurers Report:

Beginning Balance:     $5396.58

Ending Balance:          $5912.31

Less Grant Allocation:($750.00)

Cash on hand:              $5162.31

239 people have paid dues so far.

Motion to accept made by Cathy Fillipone  second by Larry Davino.

 

Community Officer Report:

Larceny on Manor Ave. Burglary on Fairlawn Ave., committed by tow truck operator. Burglaries on Meridan Rd. ATV problems.  Mystery Shopper is internet fraud.

Motion to accept made by Joe Kearney, second by Ned Mencio.

 

Committee Reports:

Mike Ptak- trucks coming in and out by reservoir are for the new banquet hall which is partially in Prospect and Waterbury.

 

Awards Night- First discussion on Radio City trip. Too late in year to book it. Need to start in February or March.

Discussion of pizza party for awards night. Could rent big green truck and keep it for 3 hours. They will supply everything. Website:www.biggreentruckpizza.com.

 

Thanks to Jean Guisto for chairing by-laws committee. Motion to accept by Nancy Ptak and second by Mary Tetreault.

 

Nominating Committee- Met on Oct. 2. LED by Larry Davino, other members are Ned Mencio, Bill Klish and Joe Kearney. Dave Muccino will be running for Vice President and Evelyn Carrah will run again for Treasurer. Voting will take place at November meeting. Motion to accept made by Cecile Davino and second by Mike Ptak.

 

Old Business-Discussion of changes in by-laws. President and Secretary will run in odd years while VP and Treasurer in even years. In the event that there is a vacancy Roberts Rules apply. Majority of remaining officers will decide who will fill the vacancy. President does not have sole power to choose. Motion to accept by Jan Perigard and second by Joe Kearney.

 

New Business-

Tom Harmon from Western Hills Neighborhood Association would like to share website information. Motion to link websites by Mike Ptak and second by Mary Tetreault.

Spirit of Waterbury Festival. Motion to spend $300 on apples to give away made by Tim Connolly and second by Bill Klish.

November meeting changed to Wednesday the 14th.

Elections will be held at this meeting.

Mattatuck Museum Dinner Dance will be held on December 1. More information to follow.

November Guest Speaker will be Jack Starr from Wesson Energy Audit.

Hospitality for November Meeting will be provided by Stacey Kearney and Patricia Kearney.
