The
president Patrick Norton started the meeting with the pledge of allegiance.
Nancy
Ptak gave the secretary’s report. The
minutes were available on the website as well.
Jean
Guisto gave the Treasurer’s report. A copy is available for review.
Patrick
Norton spoke to Jim Nemic relative to the park update. We are in the cotract stage of the process
Phase
2 will start in a couple of months.
A
letter has been sent to Attorney Patrick Zailkas. We sent a check for $ 1,000.00 as a retainer for the Appeal
process. The check was sent and cleared
the bank in January. We have not yet
heard from Attorney Zailkas.
Flags
were installed on the poles in the neighborhood. Patrick shared with us how difficult it was to do. He recognized
Bob Perigard, Ned Mencio, Bill Burnes, Mike Ptak and a Big shout out to Turner
Langdon who finally made it this year.
Ned
gave an update on the June recognition dinner. He said flyers have been made to
post at Olivers, East Mountain Golf Course, Hamilton Liquors, City Hall, Big
Dipper, Stop and Shop, Dairy Mart, and Peoples Bank. Patricia Mencio contacted
Robyn Adams to do a piece in the paper. We requested a photographer to come
that night. Ned said that if anyone
wants to reserve a table they could call Ned or Bob Perigard. He also will take
a paid ad out in the newspaper to run on June 5th and June 12th. Patricia Mencio gave a list of people who
still have tickets out and remain unpaid.
So far 40 tickets have been sold.
We hope to have 100 sold before the event. There was discussion about when the funds needed to be in. Ned said he had hoped it would come in at
tonight’s meeting. We would like to
have as many tickets sold before June 1st but we will not turn
people away. Nancy Ptak will call Tom
Chute to announce it on WATR since Bob McGovern was not at the meeting to
follow up. June suggested we send a
mailing out to everyone about the recognition dinner. She offered to stuff envelopes and also suggested if each family
donate a book of stamps, we can cut down on our costs. That would be a total of 900 people to
mail. Bob Perigard suggested we send
them to only paid members. That would
be only 200 people to send mailings for.
Tom Conway offered to donate 100 stamps. The remaining cost would come out of the treasury. Mike Guisto made a motion to send mailings
to our paid member population. Nezi
seconded the motion. A vote was taken
and the motion carried. John Gronski
from Peoples Bank asked that Tony email him the flyer after he adds a cutoff
date on it and he would make the copies needed to mail. June will then get the copies and mail them
out.
Earth
Day volunteers were thanked. They included Bob Perigard, Ned Mencio, Bill Burnes,
Joe Padua, and Debbie Langdon, Erin Norton.
Patrick Norton shared his story about initially not wearing gloves until
he started cleaning and found things he would rather pick up with gloves on.
Nezi
gave an update about the casino trip.
He said we had a lot of fun and we made $25.00 after expenses.
June
shared her story about the $1.00 machines were always lucky for her. She won
over $1,000.00.
Bob
Perigard received a call from Michael’s Greenhouse about picking up the flowers
we have reserved there. Bob will pick
them up on Tuesday. Ned will also
contact the park department to have dirt dropped off. Tentative plans will be to plant flowers on June 7th
Saturday.
Nezi
said the East End Community Club will be having a tag sale on June 7th.
Ned
made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Bob Perigard seconded it.
