The treasurer’s report was given by Jean Guisto.  We had flag purchases of approx $ 370.00 as well as $ 750.00 for the scholarship fund that leaves approx $7,300.00.  There will be another expense for bricks to be announced at a later date.

The secretary’s report was given by Nancy .  Sympathy cards were sent to June Laugalis at 1300 Hamilton Avenue for the death of her mother as well as the Edith Joseph Family at  149 Bracewood Road . Welcome to our new neighbor Gabriel Rios at 92 Harwood Road. Today will be the last day to purchase duck tickets for $ 5.00 each for a chance to win up to 50 prizes the top prize is a trip for four to Disneyworld.  See Nancy Ptak for tickets.  We make  $ 2.50 for each ticket we sell.

Michael Ptak gave an overview of the park reopening update.  Meeting was held with Joe Geary and the Police Department. There will be a line up of the Athletic Association kids at the Golf Course.  They will march down to the park.  The other attendants are the Fire Department, Police Department  and Veteran representative.  The large flag for the flagpole has been purchased.  There will be a flag raising.  There will be portolets available and washing stations.  Bob Trotter will be reading the history of the park.  Rich Godsil, Patrick Norton, Joe Geary will be cutting the ribbon and saying a few words.

George Dinkle will do the blessing.   The East Mountain Athletic Association will provide food and drink for sale.  There will be two bouncing apparatus for the kids as well as a dunk tank.  The basketball court will be painted, trees and brush will be removed as well as the back fence will be replaced.  The seeding will be done as well as bricks will be installed.  Signs and dog post stations will be installed.  Benches and picnic tables will be installed.  Electrical and irrigation are being worked on.  Parking will be a problem.  We encourage everyone who can to walk.  Others may have to park at the church or on neighboring streets.  Looking into having all handicapped spots at entrance to discourage parking down the driveway.

There was some discussion about a bike rack.  There are also graffiti concerns.  Jean Guisto has a contact for a company who spray the object with a chemical that paint does not adhere to it.  She will rely the information to the park department.  Bob Trotter brought up about another  street light.  Joe Geary is aware of it.

The flags are up and flying proudly.  Nancy recognized the four individuals that make it possible.  Bob Perigard, Ned Mencio, Michael Ptak  and Bill Burnes.

Joe Padua gave an update on activity in the area.  East Main Street had breakin possibly from the methadone clinic.  3 suspects were unable to locate.  A lot of jewelry has been reported missing.  Suspect is Hispanic male  20 years old driving a green chevy blazer 4:00 am.  There will be seat belt checks so click it or ticket.  Racing has been reported on East Mountain Road.  If anyone has anything to report contact the community officer’s  number at 574-6962.

We were notified by the State and Federal IRS that we need to pay a fee. Michael Ptak will review with Jean Guisto our bylaws and membership forms.

Generally if we are under $10,000.00 we are listed as a 501C4 status and we need to pay about $ 300.00 filing fee to the state and file a 99N form.  Mike made a motion we spend the funds to the state.  Jean seconded the motion.

Tony Loechner asked if the fee was an annual fee.  The fee as we understand it is an application fee. If the funds are over $10,000.00 the cost is $750.00.

We have 274 members at this point.  The question was raised as to whether we are a non stock corporation.  Patrick asked Michael to check on the insurance cost for the organization.  A vote was taken and the motion carried.

The question was raised to give a $100.00 donation to the Boy Scouts. Michael made a motion and Tony seconded the motion.  A vote was taken and the motion carried.

We were invited to the Prospect Parade on May 25,2009.

Jean Guisto researched grocery canvas bags for the park reopening.  The large bags are $ 3.09 each and for an order of $ 150 the cost is only $ 2.99.

The small bags are $ 2.99. Maureen Meade made a motion  that we give the bags away. Bob Perigard suggested we give them to those people who are paid members.   Jean made a motion we purchase the bags and Ceil seconded the motion.  A vote was taken and the motion carried.

On the park reopening day we will have a hospitality tent set up.  Brick Forms and Membership forms will be available as well as our photo book for viewing.

Forms were passed around for those bringing a dish to the last meeting in June as well as the flower planting volunteer form for June 7th.

The motion was made by Evelyn to adjourn the meeting and Ceil seconded the motion.
