EAST MOUNTAIN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

MINUTES

MAY 15, 2019

 

Attendees:  22

Meeting was called to order at 7:08 pm which began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Tom Brunnock and followed by a Moment of Silence for our departed neighbors.

 

Secretary Dory St. John was absent.  Minutes were taken by Gail Andrews.

·         Correspondence included a Sympathy Card was sent to the Paternoster Family and a Thank You Note was received from Bill and Eileen Paternoster,

·         There were 3 new families who moved into the East Mountain neighborhood:  Westport Dr., Pineridge Rd., and Shadybrook Lane.

·         Minutes will be posted on the EMNA website.

 

Treasurer Colin Coburn reported:

·         Current report for April was presented and is on file.  If anyone would like additional information regarding the Treasurer’s Report please contact him.

 

Ned Muccino reported that the scholarship applications represented individuals not living in the East Mountain area.

 

City Liaison Officer Mike Ptak was absent.  No report.

 

Community Property Project Tom Brunnock reported:

·         The Zoning Hearing which was on appeal will now take place.  There will be a hearing on the zone change.

 

Alderman George Noujaim reported:

·         There will be a Food Hub built in the South End of Waterbury.

·         East Mountain Park cleanup will be June 15th at 8:00-11:00 am.

·         Hamilton Park cleanup will be June 7th.  Many improvements are being planned for Hamilton Park.

·         A complaint was reported regarding a van parked on Reidville Dr. with an inappropriate billboard.

·         There were questions regarding the Wendell Cross School renovation.  There were concerns regarding parking.

·         Hamilton Park benches will be painted.

·         There were requests made to have debris cleaned up near the water tower at the East Mountain Golf Course.

·         There were requests made to address the ice cream truck blocking lanes during the baseball games at East Mountain Park.

·         They are seeking people to “Adopt a Spot” areas in Waterbury to beautify.

 

Officer Charles Carangelo reported on various incidents in the area.

 

Old Business:

·         Tom Brunnock as Vice President was approved.

·         Colin Coburn as Treasurer was approved.

 

New Business:

·         Flags will be installed by Memorial Day.

·         There was a Motion to donate $500 by Tom Brunnock.  All approved.  Motion carries.

·         East Mountain Park cleanup will be June 15th from 8:00-11:00 am.

·         Stephanie Cummings is sponsoring a shredding event on June 8th from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Federal Credit Union on Meriden Road.

·         There will be a Pot Luck Supper at our June meeting at 7:00 pm.

·         There was a notice of a benefit for Karen Cascia left at the front desk with a signup sheet.

 

Motion to Adjourn:  Larry Davino.  All approved.  Motion carries.  Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
