The president Patrick Norton started the meeting with the pledge of allegiance

We were fortunate to have Tom Lawler as our guest speaker to talk about Internet crimes. There are 10 agents that work out of the New Haven office. They concentrate on crimes against children, child predators, and Internet threats.  The process is usually when a parent calls to say there is a problem.  Some include pornography, violence, hateful speech, and dangerous acts. Those most at risk are female teens in middle and high school.  They use things like myspace, facebook.  We also saw a video about a 13-year-old who lost her mother from Darien CT.  She was speaking to a 24 year old who met her, had sex with her and strangled her.  This teen went to the mall on Friday night as she always did, when her aunt went to pick her up; she was not there.

He also spoke about identity theft. He warned not to give your social security number on the Internet as well as any bank information.  The minimum amount to report identity theft is $5,000.00.  If you think something is too good to be true it probably is a scam.  Everyone is entitled to a free credit report once a year.  He gave us some helpful websites.  They include:
