Secretary’s Report:  As per usual, the hard copy of the minutes of the May meeting are available for perusal.

Treasurer’s Report:  Total balance is $7,304.09 with $3,674.37 remaining for the condo development opposition.

Community Officer, Joe Padua reports theft of the ATM machine at the bank on Reidville Drive.  Radar traps are being set up at East Main St./Beecher Ave.  Joe asks anyone who might see anything suspicious to call him at the Community Phone # 574 6962.

Fire Dept. Report:  There have been 6 runs to East Mountain since the last meeting, as reported by Capt. Mike Farrell.  He also tells of a woman who brought her unconscious dog to the fire station, the dog having been unresponsive for 20 minutes.  Efforts to revive the 4 year old dog were unsuccessful.  Mike would like to follow up with the woman if anyone knows who she is.

The Scholarship award was presented this year to Brittany Langdon, a high school senior who has just graduated and will be attending college.  As in previous years Beverly Guevin presented the award in her father Harry Northrup’s memory.

Presentation to Engine 5:  Mike Ptak presented a hand made model Engine 5 Fire Engine to the Engine 5 firefighters.  Mike Farrell accepted the award, which was placed on a plaque (the plaque was donated by B&G Sports of East Main St. ) During his acceptance, Mike voiced his appreciation of the close relationship the Engine 5 staff maintains with the East Mountain Neighborhood Association.

Mike praised John Keane for his attendance along with his young son at the April meeting, especially for teaching the boy to be civic-minded and for the boy to have such an interest in these matters at such a young age.

Condo update:  The last hearing lasted 5 hours, during which the special permit was, again, tabled.  The next hearing will be held on June 28th at the Sovreign Bank at 5:30 PM.

Park Update the Park  still goes uncompleted.  Our project is to install a bench with donations in John Keane’s memory.  The promised $25,000 is still a reality—the paper work will go to the state after the Development Committee has its board meeting.

A fundraiser is planned for June 30 at the golf course.  The ticket price is $20.  It will be held from 6PM to 9PM.  It will be catered by the clubhouse concession manager, Terri Robillard.  After expenses, all proceeds will go to the Keane family.

A golf tournament is planned for October 5th .  This will be another event for the Keane family.  Tickets will cost $125.  For non-golfers, dinner can be purchased for $40.  This will be held at the golf course.

Commemorative bricks to be placed at the park are still available.  Please make purchase within next 2 months, so the company can be given a definite number.

Thanks to the O’Donnell Monument Co. owners Patrick and Ann O”Donnell for donating the memorial stone for John Keane.

Mike Ptak is nominated by Bob Perigard to be honored by the Neighborhood Council this year. Nancy Ptak seconded the motion.  Mike intends to step down as President of the Neighborhood Association in December.  A nominating Committee is needed to choose officer nominees.

Mike thanked Oliver’s Market for their donation toward tonight’s barbecue.

Mike has been congratulated by the State of Ct. for his work on the Litter Comission.

A pancake breakfast is being planned for September.  There willl be meetings during the summer break.  Mike Farrell and Bob Stokes have offered to help with the event.

The meeting  is adjourned at 7PM.

The barbecue followed.

Respectfully submitted,
