January 16, 2013
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM. Pledge of Allegiance led by Ned Mencio, followed by a
moment of Silence for deceased neighbors.
Community Officer’s Report:
Dawn discussed regulations for snow removal by residents. Residents must clear snow within 4 hrs. of storm’s completion. Violators will be fined $5 for initial occurrence, plus an additional $5/hr for each hr thereafter that the sidewalk remains snow covered. Snow and ice are not to be shoveled into the street. She also had information regarding the Citizens Police Academy, starting 3/18 and running for
six weeks.
There is no parking ban regarding snow in East Mountain.
Dawn will get us information regarding the Neighborhood Watch.
Secretary’s Report:
The minutes of the January meeting were read.

Motion to accept the Secretary’s Report was made by Charlie Schirmer and seconded by Jacques Cartier to accept the minutes.
Treasurer’s Report:
Beginning Balance: $6099.96
Ending Balance: $5685.96
Less Grant Allocation: $ 750.00
Available Cash on Hand: $4935.98
Motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report was made by Donna Burnes and seconded by Beatrice
Perigard.
Grant Committee: No report
Old Business
The park flag has been retired – Light will remain off until April.
Purchased 38 new flags for EMNA – 1 new large flag for flagpole
Distributed new flags to Bouley Manor Neighborhood Assn. and East End Community Club.
Bob now receives emails from Gettysburg Flag Works alerting him when to fly flag at
half mast.
Members were asked to donate any used embroidered American flags. They will be sent to
volunteers who cut out the stars and send them to troops overseas.
Christmas tree lights have been removed from tree at clubhouse. We will contact the City of Waterbury Parks Dept to see if they would install permanent power to the tree. If there is
a cost involved it won’t be pursued.
Website: Some changes have been made. Sally has added pictures and some links.
Wendell Cross cleanup. Bob will contact the City of Waterbury to obtain permission to grade the bank and clean up the bus stop that is there. He will also contact Joe Amato, Principal of Wendell Cross to discuss it with him.
Big Green Truck:
Our Big Green Truck dinner will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. We are hoping for 100 people to attend. After a brief discussion it was decided to table the discussion until the next meeting as there was low attendance at this meeting. Jan Perigard agreed to take charge of the tickets.
New Business:
Bob attended meeting of Bouley Manor Neighborhood Assn. He shared our scrapbook with them.
We will assist them with flag installation in the spring. They have a Casino trip planned for 3/10
$32 pp, by 2/25.
Hospitality:
Larry is looking for one more volunteer for March and one for May.
Earth day is 4/27.
Next meeting is 2/20. Rep. Selim Noujaim is the speaker.

ADDENDUM TO MINUTES OF 1/16/13
Guest speaker was Lauralee Cheezic from WPD Crimestoppers. She explained that the purpose of Crimestoppers is to alert the police of possible crimes. She shared the Crimestoppers phone number and handed out note pads. Rewards are offered for information, but in most instances members of Crimestoppers refuse the rewards and are happy to simply help the police with the information.
