Earth Day Clean-up

Our trusty crew from the Neighborhood Association managed to gather a bunch of tires and junk from East Mountain Road. Click Here to see the photos.


 

East Mountain Park Opening
- June 27th 11 am to 4 pm

The East Mountain Park reopening ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 27th (rain date the 28th) starting with a parade at 11:00am. After the parade which will consist on a Police & Fire Department honor guard, an escort for the new flag and 200 children from the sports association and engine 5, the flag will be raised and three East Mountain residents will sing the Star Spangled Banner. There will be a blessing of the park and the four Memorial stones, a few short speeches, a reading of the park history and then the ribbon cutting.

There will be hotdogs, hamburg's , soda and chips for sale, one bouncing station, one slide, a dunk tank, sno-cones and popcorn available. Starting at 2:00 we will have a band playing until 4:00 pm.

East Mountain Road will be closed off from 9:00 in the morning from Our Lady of Lebanon Church up to the first golf course driveway until after the parade and the barriers will be moved down to Pineridge after the parade kicks off with the remaining of East Mountain still being closed off. Anyone living in East Mountain is asked to walk to the park to help alleviate parking issues. Anyone with questions can call me at 754-9311.


EAST MOUNTAIN NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION 2009 AWARD RECIPIENT

Joseph Silva, son of Joseph and Nancy Silva, is the 2009 recipient of the East Mountain Neighborhood Association annual award.Joseph graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in the top five percent
of his class. He was a student in the S.O.A.R. Program, the School of Academic Renown. Joseph was very active in both school activities and extracurricular activities. He also spent many hours doing community service. He will attend Kings College in New York. The award is presented in honor of the late Harry Northrop. Harry was a lifelong resident of East Mountain. He took up residence here in 1949. Harry was one of the original members of the East Mountain Community Club and the sole organizer of the first East Mountain Athletic Association. It is because of his efforts that the people of East Mountain now have the park, the present East Mountain Neighborhood Association and the East Mountain Athletic Association Beverly Guevin, Harry Northrop's daughter, presented a check in the amount of $750 to Joseph, at the June meeting of the East Mountain Neighborhood Association.
